Control

Like many people, control is an issue in my life. Everyone needs a certain amount of control, but autonomy has always been important to me … especially when I was working.

We all experience times when someone controls us and we have no choice but to allow that to happen. We don’t have to like it, but we have to accept it.

Then…there are times when we wish to control everything in our life and the lives of those around us. Again, not something we like always, but may have to be accepted due to conditions of the situation…relationship.

My anxiety from control has nothing to do with the future, but everything to do with the present. I know too many people who have major control issues meaning they love to control but detest being controlled.

Everything in life has issues … for me, in a perfect world, everything would be 50/50 … no one exerting no more control over others than they for themselves and the other way round. Life is a give and take … but unfortunately, that is not always the case. Things would be so much simpler, less anxiety producing if only we could give that 50/50 give and take in all situations, relationships, friendships, etc.

Oh well, in my perfect dream world there would be no control … only sharing. Pollyanna… perhaps, but I say it is the Libra in me … balance, looking at all sides, and hoping things will be fair … Justice.
